Clinical Skills

This is a programme designed for medical student to learn clinical skills, virtually. It was really fun! So far i had used it to learn venepuncture, IV cannulation, rectal examination, bladder catheterization and arterial blood gas sampling.

Before the procedure starts, it will tell the relevant anatomy that we should pay attention to. Then it will explain what are the indication, contraindication, complication and equipment needed. After all theses 'hassles', we can start learning with well-instructed video and simulation. There are MCQs and simulation test after the learning session.

I heard that it's University of Auckland who developed this programme. I would say it is really beneficial, at least i had learned the proper order to carry out the procedure (if i could remember lah...). To do it on real patient, i still need plenty of confidence.

I still remembered when i injected the local anaesthetic on the hand, i hit slightly next to the correct place, the site instantly swelled, so 'realistic', haha!
