Astonished

For the first time in my life, i saw an Indian wedding was being held at the chinese temple's common hall in my village. Quite awkward, don't you think so? I'm not invited in the occasion, but as part of the 'busy-body crowd' outside the hall, it seemed everything went quite well. They decorated the hall with some indian's ornament so that overall looked less chinese-ish. Of course they served indian cuisine, and the smell of the food was so strong till i kept on thinking of 'banana nim nie'... Fireworks and thunderous music were the highlight of the occasion. At the same time, it caused minute traffic congestion at the main road, which rarely happen here except during chinese new year and the ghost festival celebration.

Does this scenario fit to the term 'racial integration'? I know this term needs massive effort in order to make it happen, but after seeing this 'indian wedding in chinese hall' incident, i'm actually quite optimistic about it. To stay in a multi racial, multi religious and multi cultural community, tolerance is the utmost essence. There are things bound to be clashed on each other, hatred and doubt are definitely not the solutions, but tolerance is. Even if A is not in good term with B, they shouldn't backstab each other or do some silly things like tear each other's photo. Behave like a grown-up , please! All of us are very forgiving, so apologizing won't cost a fortune!

Suddenly i think of this pepatah, hope it is not wrong: Bersatu teguh, bercerai roboh
